A New Watercolor - Spring

New for Into the West Oscar Party: Gimli!

Just in time for ROTK: A weepy Hobbit. Frodo: Grey Havens

Back on track! Recent Commissions: Gwaivorn, a character portrait, and Elemental Nootlings, for a friend's altar.

Long break: I took a month off to just deal with everything that had been well-nigh abandoned - my home, my family, life in general.

San Diego Comic-Con 2003

Finished PowerPuff Girls 2020.
A Successful Venue!: I had four panels in the Art Show and sold the following original paintings:

Infinity Dragon II, Autumn, The White Rider, Departure, and Frodo and the Ring.

I did not sell prints at a table my first year at this Con, but did engage in *extreme* levels of Lord of the Rings fandom, as documented here in the Photo Gallery section....

Phantom Galleries: My "Shell Series" paintings and supersize mural can be found at 97 S. First Street, (next to the old Crescent Jewelers) in downtown San Jose. I'll be there from now until October!

For BayCon: Shy added. Departure added.

Sorry about the lack of notes for BayCon 2003! In brief, my Artist's Alley table was well-attended as usual. I had four panels in the Art Show with most of my recent work.

And, I put on The Denise Satter Memorial Art Show. We raised $710.00 for the Humane Society of Silicon Valley at BayCon! Thanks to Richard, Gayle, and Melody, and to everyone who bought things, and to Artistic Solutions Inc., Michael Siladi and Gary Bell.....and of course to the incomparable artist and humanitarian Denise Satter. We love you babe and miss you!

My painting entitled "Winter" was recently selected for a gallery exhibit -- and here are all the details.
This is my first juried show so I want to thank everyone who's encouraged me and helped me over the years - thank you!

WORLDCON 2002............Labor Day Weekend post-mortem

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and said Hello! at WorldCon!

What a time we had! Sold lots of prints and said Farewell to Dawn Spell and the Dragonier at auction.... hope you found good homes, guys! Some character originals from Providence also found a nice home, too. The "Fairy Magic" series stirred up a lot of attention, and "Courage" and "Power" flitted off to grace the lives of others.
Lots of interest for Autumn, White Rider......originals still untouched but sold many mini-prints of those! I still have an Autumn framed and one unframed (Giclees), and a nice matted White Rider Giclee left.

Go Hobbit-mania.....surprising how many of my ShireBorn Rogues fellows nudged smiles out of people! (hold on Lord of the Rings fans, isn't it only 90 days left until the next film, The Two Towers? Stars and Glory Mr. Frodo! Now we get to see the real White Rider come to life on the big screen....)

I must say the Masquerade (costume contest) is something NEVER to be missed at WorldCon. Such a professional level (not me~ I was SO the novice LOL) By far, the most fun I've had all year anywhere!!!!

WORLDCON 2002............Labor Day Weekend, Main Hall 1 - McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, CA. My work will be featured in the WorldCon Art Show and Auction. Please come see me at my Table, alongside many other scheduled famed artists like Michael Wm. Kaluta and Stephanie Pui-Mun Law.

WorldCon is the International Convention set up around the Hugo and Chelsey award ceremonies. Big names - Authors - Artists - Masquerade - Book signings - This year, it just so happens to be in San Jose!!!! So, if you are local, and a Fantasy/Science Fiction fan of any type, and YOU MISS WORLDCON......????? well what can I say, but next year it'll probably be in either Tokyo or London. After that, who knows. So don't miss this great opportunity - it may not come again for a decade or more!!!!!

OPEN STUDIOS 2001 Snapshots....(click to enlarge)

Above are some good examples of my work in a regular living environment. Seeing them in person is best, but these photos give a more accurate impression of relative size. For those of you that couldn't make it, enjoy browsing. Those who did make it, thanks for coming and giving my show life!

I had lots of help from Mike and Melody - they lent the stand-ups. Thanks guys, couldn't have hung all this stuff without you! And of course I need to thank my husband for helping with all the heavy lifting and hanging.....thank you Laszlo!!!!

WHAT'S OPEN STUDIOS? - Silicon Valley Open Studios is an event showcasing local artists. The genius of it is: Artists open their own homes/studios to the public. For those of you that want a simple fun weekend, an educational trip for the kids, or an extremely romantic date, I cannot recommend Open Studios weekend more highly. I've been "touring" myself for years and I would not miss it for the world. So much art to see, so many different forms and styles, you could not duplicate this experience by dragging yourself up to The City's finest art galleries. Plus you cant beat the price!

I'll be participating in the Open Studios event next spring....I'll keep the details posted here.

CYBERGALLERY: the cybergallery on the SV Open Studios website www.svopenstudios.org, containing a sample of each artist's work, will be open Apr. 1. Enjoy! It will be accessible until Silicon Valley Open Studios 2002 usurps the present space.

BEYOND THE OBVIOUS - 2000 and onward...

You can also see some of my work at the online gallery at www.beyondtheobvious.org. Beyond the Obvious is a vital, inspiring artistic think-tank which grew from an advanced creativity-development class of the same name. It's a private local watermedia painter's association focused on artist's individual growth through critiques and group support. We meet once per month for face-to-face feedback and general brainstorming, and keep in touch almost daily. To this group I owe many of the recent positive changes in my artwork.
